heya, i couldn't sleep, so i felt like digging around the internet for some vintage petz sites for this thread,,,!! to get everyone some inspiration for oldschool events, hexies or just into the spirit in general. i dunno, really. but yeah, to my surprise, i actually found some stuff, inbetween the tons and tons of shut down petz websites! take a look. _{(warning; some of these have honestly eye straining colors though. i mean, it's probably what you'd expect, but still.)}

Oh man. Just found this gem on one of those old petz sites. I think we should format all our adoptions like this throughout the month of November.

Here's another site's method of handling adoptions...

I'm changing the way I do my adoption center cause of resriction on my time availbilty. I will give you the name of the pet and all the information you need to know to adopt. Liek the name,sex,breed. And another thing if its a mixed breed I'll tell you what kind of mix. Then if you still need to see a picture just e-mail me and I'll send one to you.

OKAY so this is the 20th anniversary of Dogz
And there's also 10 PF Magic dogz breedz and 10 PF Magic catz breedz.. for a total of 20 original breedz! A loose coincidence/connection but there it is. What if we ran, like, 20 Dayz of Petz or something? We could dedicate a day to each breed, somehow?

List of suggested activities:
- Petz 1-5 Gameplay Contest (Start with adopting a dogz 1 or catz 1 pet, and work through gameplay challenges spanning all of the game versions)
- Old-School Hexing Contest
- Old-School Mixie Breeding Contest (Start with original AC petz)
- Recreate the original breed-selection "Pup Quiz" online
- Hex the original breedz/designs, recreated in the newer petz versions
- People with working copies of all versions (or 1-4 as stated before b/c not everyone uses 5 and people who do could convert for themselves) adopting petz and raising/importing them through all the versions with plenty of pictures ofc, if the community as a whole can't get the earlier versions working... then adopting/selling/auctioning/raffling/???ing them out to the community? (skissors @other people who could do this I would literally sell shares in my soul if I could have a pet adopted in dogz or catz 1 in my game and TODAY IS NOVEMBER 1ST just throwing that out there)
- Pre-PetzA Breeding Contest (natural raising/breeding, possibly with fresh AC petz?)
- Traditional Gameplay Contest (receiving some random petz, naturally raising them, completing prompts...)
- Revive the Anti-Petz Abuse clubs/campaigns (omg u guyz the spraybottle is literally abuse delete it)
- Revive the Don't Delete Me petz campaign? Maybe organize some sort of old-school shelter/adoption thread where we send in petz we'd otherwise just return, recycle, and delete?
- Hexie raffle with nostalgia theme/questions
- HOST A PETZ WEDDING woot woot
- PET GRAPHICS EVERYWHERE
- Nostalgia forum theme reminiscent of the old days of petz?

I still think it's crazy that a 20 year old game has the capacity to make true-breeding completely new combinations of traits and I think one that originated here on the newest "in" petz forum would be really cute.

I'm still super for doing this! It would be awesome if we as a forum could come together and write a thank you letter to the creator. Maybe we could start a thread where everyone who wants to could write about their history with petz and what the games mean to them, then we could bundle up all the stories with a nice intro and conclusion (perhaps written by Arie and/or mistlepinto, since they are the leaders of the forum) and send it off.

^ all of those ideas sound INCREDIBLE and I'd probably participate in as many as humanly possible. I don't think I have the capabilities to host anything but I'll gladly be AN ABLE AND WILLING FORCE in this mayhem

Also, I've been trying to download Catz 1 onto my laptop (windows 8) with no such luck. It says "this program can't run on your computer". Something about the game being 32-bit?? I'm not quite sure but I've tried all I know how to do and still nothing :( so I guess the "downloading older versions of petz" thing will be very difficult for anyone else running windows 8.

EDITED TO SAY I would definitely take part in the letter too! I could also try to help with the more logistics side of things (formatting all of it into one document perhaps?)

^ maybe you could try setting up a virtualbox machine using an older os to run catz??? from what i've heard, they're a pain to get to work, though...

edit: i didn't even realize that was literally what skissors already said in their tutorial omg
