Hello, Skittles here. I'm supposed to introduce the book Witzy is reading to anyone who stumbles on this thread. Witzy picked-up a copy of " My Best Friend's Exorcism" by Grady Hendrix last year at a True Crime conference called Obsessed Fest. Having previously read another Grady Hendrix book she really liked and wanting to support the local bookseller who had a stand at the conference, Witzy purchased a copy of the book! Then, of course, she put the book on one of her bookshelves and forgot about it. Guess it's a good thing she's participating in this contest so she can actually read this thing. Anyway, let's take a look at the cover .. fun, right? Ok, so what's this book about, huh? Let's read the back cover for more information ... High school sophomores Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade. But after an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act ... different. She's moody. She's irritable. And bizarre incidents keep happening whenever she's nearby.
Abby's investigation leads her to some startling discoveries - and by the time their story reaches its terrifying conclusion, the fate of Abby and Gretchen will be determined by a single question: Is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?Well, that sounds interesting, doesn't it? Check back soon to see how this adventure is going. You'll probably get to meet some of my fellow crew mates.

I was able to get through a good portion of the book yesterday and today. So far, it's fast-paced with interesting, complex characters. I'm sure I'll end up staying up all night soon to finish it.
In one scene, the main character, Abby, is recounting the names of all of her childhood toys that she can't bear to remove from her room. There were six names listed and I thought they would be fun to theme a litter around (and get a stamp).
I've been experimenting with Michy's Rottweiler OW file while breeding some litters for prize for my Petz Gameplay Contest. After finishing the dane litter, I figured I would see what happened when I used it in a mutt litter.
I fully intended to put all six pups up for adoption, but one of them stole my heart and I had to keep her. I figured it was an opportunity to complete another challenge and get another stamp.
So, anyway, meet Glee! She's named after my favorite character (so far, let's hope she doesn't take a turn and become awful). She's a slightly mini mutt with a poodle personality.
The rest of her littermates will be going up for adoption shortly.

First, all pups from my Mutt Litter were adopted! So, I added another stamp to my Bingo Board. Instead of taking a picture of my laptop & my book for the " Read Alongside Your Pet" challenge, I thought it would be fun to zoom in on an important page, so everyone can get a sneak peek at the book! Charlotte, one of my danes, is reading along here. I think she's a fan of the book! I've also identified an interesting quote from the book to share (for another stamp!). The book takes place in the Southern United States in the early 80s, during the first surge of the "Satanic Panic." A group of four friends all attend a wealthy private school in a town where having a 'good reputation' (even if you're not a good person) is the top priority. The author does an amazing job of capturing the angst and confusion of the years before you're officially an adult - where you're trying to figure out who you are and how to stand-out. This quote is brought to you by Oriole - a pup I'll be naturally raising for my Petz Gameplay Contest. And I have gotten to know the characters in the book well enough to assign Petz SCPs to them! There are a lot of characters in the book, but I'm choosing the Top Five that are featured most often - or are the most important to the story. First up, we have Abby, our protagonist. Abby is definitely a Labrador. She's steadfast and loyal to those that matter to her, but strong too. Even when she's afraid, she faces her fear. Next, we have Gretchen (the unpossessed version). I picture Gretchen as a Great Dane. She's sweet and a little hesitant sometimes but likes people. Like Abby, she's a loyal friend. One of the other friends in the group is Glee. Glee has a big, happy-going, personality. She's a little loud and makes an impression. I envision her as a Sheepdog. Next is Margaret. Margaret is definitely a Siamese. She's preoccupied with her looks and wants nothing more than to be skinny and elegant. She can also be rude when she's angry. Finally, we have Andras, the demon that possesses Gretchen and tortures Gretchen's friends, family, and classmates. I think the only pet that would make sense for a demon is an Alley Cat. That being said I adore Alley Catz, so I'm not sure what that says about me ... But Alley Catz are notoriously angry and destructive - just like Andras.

A smaller update today! First, I gave two of my petz show names themed after the book. Felony, Charlotte's sibling, is still working on his dane pose, but I got a decent dali pose for him. In the book, when Abby is trying to exorcise the Demon Andras from Gretchen she says the following: "Your name is Andras. You have a smile like fire and eyes like thunder, and you make servants kill their masters and children kill their parents. You are the devourer of stars, the destroyer of time, the rash solution, the cleaving that can never be rejoined, giver of dooming rage."I liked a few of the phrases in this for show names (Devourer of Stars, Destroyer of Time, Giver of Dooming Rage), but Rash Solution seemed a good fit for a dog name Felony! So now I have Witz's Rash Solution (Felony). I entered him in a dali show as well. Glee is back as well! After several tries, I got a decent front-facing poodle pose for her. In the book, Abby reflects that sometimes Glee can get 'a little loud.' I thought that was a fitting phrase for a pet named Glee, so I decided to make her show name Witz's A Little Too Loud (Glee). She has also been entered into a show her on Whiskerwick. So, that's two more stamps and now I get to pick a prize!

Since today was Fashion Show Day in my Petz Gameplay Contest ( link here), it seemed like a good day to get my stamp for: Dress Your Petz Up Like The Characters. The book is set in the '80s, so I had to capitalize on all of the bright colors & patterns available in the original Petz Closet. I didn't specifically dress my petz up to be the characters, more to summarize the 'mood' of the time. First we have Street, who I purchased on PUGS (from Megan @ Oasis). Street is modeling a beautiful neon-red cap, a bright flowered shirt, and some truly eye-catching yellow pants. I think the shirt really ties this look together --- it has both the red of the cap and the yellow of the flowers hidden in the pattern (though can anything really hid on this shirt?). Next, we have Heepie, also a PUGS purchase (from Megger @ Oblivious). Heepie, who had the most hilarious name that I had to keep, is modeling a stylish pair of blue jeans, a red & blue cap, and a yellow shirt with red polka dots that is sure to make an impression. As you can see from the photo, this is the perfect outfit for a sporty pet! Look at this outstanding display of athleticism! Not everyone in the '80s was a fan of lots of color. There were definitely some very stylish black & white outfits coming out of that time. Here to model this more subdued, but still fashionable!, look is Felicity ... again a PUGS purchase, but she was in a Mystery GrabBag from Pollypup. In her black & white shirt, black textured pants, and black glasses, Felicity is ready to leave a dark impression. I really wanted to get another BINGO, so I also made a stamp for you all to collect! I based the colors off of the book & then the text to reflect the challenge. Hope you enjoy!

I finished the book! To celebrate, I hexed a pet based on the book (also because it was one of the Bingo challenges). And then updated my avatar (another challenge). That means I completed two more BINGOs! For the hexed pet, I decided to hex a mutt because they've always been my favorite breed. I wanted to stick as closely to the colors on the cover of the book as possible (realizing to get a purple I would need a texture). Then, keeping with the vibrancy of the '80s I went wild with the speckles of color! I'm really pleased with how he turned out. He then immediately struck a pose, I decided to use one of the other potential show names I had identified earlier ... so we have: Witz's Destroyer of Time ( Grady). I used Grady in my new avatar, while using the same background technique I used to make the stamp for this contest. I think it turned out well!

A quick update today since I've already been doing tons of Petzy Stuff today and really need to sleep at some point. Today, I decided to focus on assigning one of my petz a Book Genre. Since she was already in my game so I could finish making her fancy SGCh. graphic, I decided to use Hunt for this challenge. Hunt is endlessly entertaining, so I feel like she could be a few different genres ... but I finally settled on Self-Improvement/Self-Help. I kind of thing she might specifically be one of those Daily Gratitude Journals. Why? Well, playing with her is a great serotonin boost! She's just so hilariously funny and friendly and goofy. Running while sleepy. Barking at absolutely nothing, but doing a great job! Trying (but not succeeding) to catch a frisbee. She's just enjoyable.

It's been a bit since I've updated this ... but I wanted to make sure I finished this challenge! For our Book Review today, we have a takeover from the Witz World, Team Coconut, Summer Olympics pups! You can learn more about them on Duke's Group. We have Behemoth, the lab. Tuppy is the mutt. And Papaya is the hexed dane. Behemoth: "Oh, it was sooooo good, but so gross sometimes. I had to stop reading, to cover my eyes, several times. There was this one scene with a tapeworm ..." Papaya: " Behemoth, no! Don't remind me. And that spooky scene in the shed?" Tuppy: "Right?! I don't know if I'll ever sleep again." *splat*Mystery Cat: "My name is Misery and these dogz are overreacting. Sure, it was spooky, but the book was full of fascinating characters, had a fast plot, and kept you guessing! I would read it again, definitely." Tuppy: "Misery, just because we said it was spooky doesn't mean we didn't like the book!" Misery: "Oh! Well. Good." Tuppy: "Yes, like Misery said, we were delighted with this book. It was gruesome enough to be spooky, but had an interesting plot that gave the story depth. 10/10, recommend." Papaya: "Agree! Gold star!" Behemoth: "Two paws up, here." And, here's a bookmark to print & enjoy! It features Nutter Butter, another pet from the Summer Olympics thread.

I initially kept this locked, so it looked nice & neat, but if you have questions/comments, I've unlocked it now!
