I noticed on the thread page for the Custom Titles, Arie was holding on to 1,300 bones from the titles in her account. Wouldn't it make more sense to use a dummy account that just holds extra funds? then put those funds towards prizes or monthly member gifts or birthday gifts or lottery prizes or whatever. It might be a good idea. Just have it like a staff account that multiple staff members have access too. It would be nice if someone was interested in making like anonymous donations or whatever as well, it could all go into like a WW fund which can then end up going back to the members somehow. Not sure if it was discussed already or not, but I just randomly was thinking it might be easier on you guys than trying to keep track of it all. And that way the funds could just be transferred to the dummy account right away, skip the middle man and the need to try to keep track. I'm sure the WW staff and members can come up with several other uses for a dummy account too! :) just a random thought that might be useful~ :D |

I'm not sure I like the idea of having a dummy account, it kind of sounds like a hassle to me! Plus it wouldn't deplete the need to keep track since you'd still need to keep track of all the transactions to keep your finances in order (where did these 1000 bells go? how many bells where in here last time I checked anyways?!) so it's the same as now, except you have to log in and log out (which I expect to be a pain in the ass with proboards, since you have one account that works on all proboards forums, so if I log out here, I'd be logged out everywhere else as well)... since the custom title thread is currently the only thread that puts money into our treaure chest, it's not that hard to keep track of right now. All in all I think I'd rather keep it this way! A dummy account also doesn't really allow for anonymous donations, since all the staff members would be able to see who donated. Right now, if you were to donate, only the one staff member you sent it to would know. Not that donations are a thing right now, although I do like the idea! Of course, if the rest of the council thinks it's a good idea, I'll happily join in! I just don't think it would actually make things a whole lot easier. As for what we're going to do with those extra funds, we had a bit of talk about that a while ago, and we were thinking of putting them in the prize box, as an alternative to having to pick a pet. I also like the idea of using the bones for birthday gifts, but I don't think it would work out that well - with over 100 members and no steady income, we either can't afford to give everyone something, or everyone would only get like, 10 bones.  |

Nothing new to add to Arie's points, as long as the staff has it under control I'm cool with not having one, though I initially agreed with the idea.
I mostly really just wanted to point out to Arie that you've been saying bells c;

I had thought of this when the giveaway came up too. Because are you keeping track of interest? Not that it's a huge deal or anything but the person who keeps track of bones would be earning interest every day on it as well. I mean, I guess maybe you could think of it like a bonus for hosting an event or something but eh... And also with a dummy account - if one of the mods has to leave or is less active for a while at least other mods would have access to the bones. If the mods and Rafa are ok with the way it's run currently I guess I'm fine with it but I thought I'd at least share that I agree with this idea.
And to make the multiple profile thing easier - maybe use a different browser? I've done that in the past when I wanted to be on two Neopets accounts at once and I think that should work because the cookies would be different.

Bones, bells.... same difference! I blame Animal Crossing. Yeah admittedly, if you want to take interest into account, it gets really complicated keeping your finances seperate... I don't think I could do it haha. Right now I'm just like, I'm cool with putting whatever amount necessary towards forum business, as long as I'll still have a few thousand left for myself. Doesn't look like that will be a problem anytime soon. That's a good point about staff members going inactive, though. I guess if that happens, the remaining staff will have to email them to ask to please return the bones, or if they can access their account to get 'em. |
