I've started breeding a line of dalis from scratch in my free time. I figured I should post about it here, hehe.
This is a WIP, so I'll add more to this thread as I breed more!
Sooo yeah I started my line over because certain spots and foot patches were really annoying me lol. Yes, I am still at this, and yes I'm doing this WITHOUT altering genetics! Whether you believe that or not is up to you, but... I like to challenge myself. I learned a long time ago that cheating to win in video games wasn't satisfying, and that learning about how they work was far more interesting.
Here's Pirandello, my founder. Yes, he doubles as my genetics test subject. No, I didn't tweak his genes for this project. I made a copy of his file when I started screwing with that stuff.
EARS
Leaf, Kai, Bullet, and Spearhead.
Bullet still needs work. Gotta breed out the bullie personality and breed in the correct scale.
I just finished Spearhead earlier today. I really like her selfie lids...! Alright, so they're technically not "selfie", but they look good against her fur (ideally I'd like them to be darker, but oh well). I did a lot of experimenting with certain fur/eyelid color combinations when testing genetics, to break up the monotony. In doing so I found some lovely combos that I will definitely breed for...
TAILS
Zattn and Connor
I really love sheepie tails with the "fox tail" marks... so big and fluffy. Certain tails, however, don't look good at all. Dane tails are particularly ugly, because the lines between the tail balls are very long (and fur colored, not colored like the markings).
COATS
Liebao and Influx
More selfie lids with Influx. Actually, all of his halfie ancestors had the half mark be cherry-colored, which looked so nice with the cream fur and brown ears. Influx had a mutation, but I didn't need to breed any further because his genes were as they needed to be. He still carries the cherry color though. Yay variety. Liebao (and all of his...many...fellow dachie-coated brethren) is actually from my SECOND attempt at a dali line. Yep, I'm on my 3rd attempt. I restarted because... the face patch wasn't the nice big streak that I liked. You know, it's a wonder how I managed to get two mutts that had only those three patches, without much effort. I'm rather excited to mix Liebao's line into my current line, because of the ear variety, and also face patch variety. I love variety. lol
One thing I've been keeping in my lines is what I call a "fox tail" (idk why my mind associates it with foxes). It's a mutt tail tip combined with the full dali "ink-dipped" tail, to produce a tail tip that has Tail6 and Tail5 white, and Tail4 black.
I think I'll go for poodle coats next...
To be continued!
