I don't remember reading about this in the rules - what's the policy on threads you're done with (e.g. adoption thread where all petz have been adopted)? Do we just let them sit idle or are we supposed request to have them locked, or even deleted?
If there's no policy yet I'd like to just throw it out there that I prefer sitting idle/locking myself, I like to have old adoption threads and such around for future reference haha.
Thoughts?
(Edit: obviously if the majority of the people prefer having threads deleted to keep the forum clutter-free, then by all means, just go with that or do whatever works! I was just saying, it doesn't matter to me that much either way.)

i prefer to just ask to have them deleted, myself. i think it could get to be too many threads & too many pages very quickly.

Basically what's been happening (for the most part--it took me a bit to get organized) is if people edit their subject to "pls delete" or some variation of that, it gets deleted, but if it's edited to "0 available" etc, with all other info intact, it gets moved to a hidden closed adoption/auction/service thread.
edit: I could start locking old threads instead of moving? I'll watch this thread.

I don't see why we couldn't keep deleting, I feel like things will just get cluttered otherwise.

I agree, I think its best to delete "finished" threads to keep the board clean.

I was wondering about this myself. I agree - delete the finished ones.

I'm all for deleting but I get Arie's point too. Even if you keep records yourself, they can get lost. Having something to refer to could be really useful. For the threads that get moved to the hidden section, would there be any way to set it up the OP could still view it?

Maybe create a huge Archive board to dump old threads? They won't be organized (too much work) but OP's links will still work.

I'm pro deleting thread unless the OP where to specifically request them saved. I for one don't really care either way. After years on the forums of pet adoptable sites I'm so used to having 200+ pages of old threads I hardly ever notice them anymore. I don't need any of my old threads but in the same regard I feel like if someone did they'd be bummed out if they weren't able to access their threads anymore.
Then again I'm probably overtired and not making much sense at this point.

Hm, maybe there could be a sub-board for finished threads? And people could decide themselves by changing the subject to either 'please archive' or 'please delete'. And to avoid clutter the 'default' option could be delete. So if the subject is just something like '0 left', 'all gone' etc. it would be deleted. What do you think?
