Another day, another fifth generation pup! This time I decided to use the Alternate Spot file in liver (brown spots). I already had my ultimate goal in mind: a liver spotted dali with green eyes. This meant I had a pretty focused day of breeding NIB dalis! DDD - GGG - JJJ - EEE - KKKIII - HHH - FFFI forgot to put bows on the pups for this graphic (to indicate hidden eye colors), but I got lucky and two carried the green eyes I was looking for! I almost went off-course when those pretty steel-eyes started showing up as well (clearly that needs to be the next 'round' because I'm definitely drawn to them). I paired-off the pups and worked on the next generation. JJJKKK - DDDGGG - HHHIII - EEEFFFI got my green-eyed pups in this round! Both styles were so pretty, so I decided I would be fine with either one in the fifth generation, so I kept breeding. DDDGGGxHHHIII - EEEFFFFxJJJKKKThis is where I had to trust the process. EEEFFFxJJJKKK showed brown eyes, but carried green ... so I decided to move forward trusting the GenePoolz. And it worked! I mean: WOW. I decided to go with white lids & a black nose to make breeding future generations a little easier (that way I don't have to breed brown lids back out of a line with black-spotted dalis in it). I named the pup Geb, who was an Egyptian deity associated with the earth. He's got a beautiful GenePoolz to work with as well!

For this pup, I decided to use the XXXtreme Spot OW (which gave me a nice leg-up as you can choose blue-eyed pups from the AC). Since I liked the steel-blue eyes so much the last two rounds, I decided to finally breed myself 110-119 range eye color pup! I started with mostly blue eyed-pups from the AC to get my second gen pups (I grabbed one brown/tan eyed pup by accident and just decided to go with it). Now that I'm more comfortable with the 'sensible breeding project' structure, I know one pup isn't going to ruin my goal. SSS - NNN - MMM - QQQ - LLLPPP - OOO - RRR
QQQ had the exact eyes I was hoping for - something in the steal blue range. SSS had gorgeous eyes, but they weren't carried. However, I think that must be the goal for the next round: icy blue eyes. NNN's tan eyes were also very pretty actually. I think they would look nice on a liver-spotted pup. MMMNNN - OOOPPP - QQQSSS - LLLRRR
I was very pleased with the pups I got in this round. QQQSSS had those pretty steel eyes again. MMMNNNxQQQSSS - OOOPPPxLLLRRR
For the fourth round, neither pup showed the steel eyes, but MMMNNNxQQQSSS carried them, so on we go! I got a few pups with steel eyes, but one definitely stood out. I named him Aganju. According to the website I found, in the Yoruba faith Aganju is known for his control over volcanoes, wilderness, and the earth itself. So the name worked well with the theme I'm following so far. And the GenePoolz!

Back again! This time with the liver-spotted, alt-spot, file again! After the last round, I was pretty determined to breed for a dali with icy blue eyes. I thought it would look really nice on a liver-spotted pup, so the next round began with a goal in mind (didn't stick, but that's not a surprise). I exhausted the alphabet three times, so I'm starting again with 'a,' but this time using lowercase letters. a - VVV - XXX - ZZZ - UUU YYY - TTT - WWWTwo pups had icy eyes, but didn't carry them. I bred a bunch of pups from each pair, hoping for carried eyes ... but no luck. So, I moved on with what I had - hoping to have the icy eyes show up in a future generation (because wow, right?). UUUXXX - TTTZZZ - VVVYYY - aWWWThe third generation yield a two pups with beautiful orange eyes. At this point, it wasn't looking like the icy eyes would be showing up (without a LOT of breeding), so I figured orange would be a nice consolation prize. aWWWxVVVYYY - UUUXXXxTTTZZZ'Slothy' eyes showed up in generation four, which looked gorgeous. So, I figured either a slothy-eyed pup or an orange-eyed pup would be nice for this round ... But, then out popped a pup with pink eyes! The pink isn't carried, but I liked the GenePoolz of the pup (gray eyes & slothy eyes!) and she was just so pretty I decided to keep her! I named her Gaia after the Greek primordial deity.

Another liver-spotted dali today! Initially, I was really fixated on getting icy eyes for this pup, but then remembered that technically I already have a pup with icy eyes ... so decided to work towards either really, really dark steel blue or slothy instead (which was a good choice because wow the pup I got was gorgeous). b - e - f - d - gi - h - ce almost threw me off course with those icy eyes (they're so pretty on a liver coat!), but they weren't carried, so I continued with my original plan. d carried the slothy eyes I was looking for, so I knew I could get there with some careful breeding. de - hi - cf - bg
de was pretty perfect, but cf was also really nice with those super dark steel eyes ... bgcf - dehidehi was pretty much perfection, so I confirmed I wanted a slothy-eyed pup for this round, but bgcf carried the dark blue eyes, so I figured these two would make a good pair. I bred about 20 pups and then picked my favorite. I named her Aranyani - a Hindu goddess of forests and the wild animals that dwell within them. She carries those super pretty dark eyes as well, so I'm very pleased with the results of this round.

Another generation five dali! This time I used The Brewery's Lemon Dali OW. I honestly didn't know 'lemon dalmatians' were a thing, but found several cool sites about them. They're beautiful dogs, so it seemed like a good idea to have one in my project. k - j - m - o - ql - n - p
I wasn't sure what eye color I was going to like on this file and the first pup out of the first pair had sandy eyes ... and I was immediately in love. The orange was also really nice as well and the green was fun too. pq - mn - jk - lo The third generation brought in more white ears and some steel/slate eyes (though they weren't carried). jklo - mnpq Both of the generation four pups were pretty perfect. I liked both the sandy eyes and the orange eyes, so figured I would ultimately be happy with either option! Ultimately, I went with a pup that had those sandy eyes I loved so much when the first pair produced them. I named this pup Houtu; according to a Wiki article, she is a Chinese goddess of earth. She also carries the orange eyes, so I think she's pretty perfect.

Annnnd back - with the final dali in my "vanilla" NIB line! I now have eight lovely 5th generation dalis with white coats & various spot colors/eye colors. I've started working on getting them into shows to get them all to UGCh (I feel like aiming for an UGCh line is a little more exciting than a SGCh line). For this round, I went back to the XXXtreme Spot OW, but with no specific goals in mind. r - v - y - s - u t - x - wI grabbed a general variety of pups out of the AC (trying to get some with blue eyes, some with darker brown, some with tan). For this round, I bred 15 pups from each AC pair and then kept my favorite pup. Since it was the 'last' round of the gen 5s, I let one non-white coated pup move on since the trait wasn't carried. rv - uy - tw - sxBy the third generation, I was starting to really like the idea of a pup with those pretty cherry eyes - since I didn't have a pup with those yet. rvuy - sxtwPredictably, I was almost knocked from course by a pretty steel-eyed pup, but since my other XXXtreme spotty pup carries the steel eyes, I decided to move forward with the cherry. For my generation 5 pup, I bred the gen 4 pair 15 times and picked my favorite pup. Terra was the standout the way the spots connected across her face was so interesting. And she's different enough from my other XXXtreme spot pup that I she was unique and interesting. She actually carries white lids in the first pair (black in the second), so I also really like that for future generations!

Today I decided to test out the petza batch-breeding modification by PrismMirrorLense. It allows you to breed a pair multiple times with just a click. And it was amazing. It's been a little while since I've breed another Tamsin (since I've been working on my "Vanilla Dali" line) and the petza mod made the project magical. So magical. For this round I also used the XXXtreme spot file. Already, in the second generation, I began to get some really cool mutations ... cc - bb - z - dd - aaff - gg - eeThe dali file I used has the option to get blue eyes right out of the adoption center, so I got some pups with some pretty eyes this round. But I was most excited by the coat colors. I also kind of thought it might be fun to aim for a pup with minimal mutt patches this round, so I was very excited with ff. ggz - aaee - bbcc - ddff
As I was breeding 25 pups a click, it was easy to keep going until I had four nice third generation pups. ddff was beautiful (even without the spots) and bbcc's spot-lacking coat was nice as well. aaeeddff - bbccggzSo, both pups from this generation were pretty stellar. I was really excited to see what they were going to produce. The pup I chose is a little bit of a lie --- the icy eyes aren't carried, but I don't care. He's stunning. I was so excited when he came trotting through the door. I decided to name him Wolfsbane. And the GenePoolz info!

This round of breeding was super successful! So excited. I got an eye color I've been wanting in my lines for awhile early on, so it was relatively easy to focus on a goal for this round. ii - ll - hh - mm - kkjj - oo - nn
Using the batch breeder/petza upgrade, I was able to breed this round relatively quickly again. I was getting some nice pups from the first few pairs, but when I got to the pink-eyed pup out of mmF & mmM I was ecstatic. In my NIB Vanilla Dali line I got a pink-eyed pup, but it wasn't carried genetically. I frantically checked Genepoolz, expecting these to also be a fluke, but I was wrong -- it was a carried trait. kkoo - iijj - llnn - hhmm
In this round I was really a fan of the red coat pup and, of course, the pink-eyed pup. Even though I already have a red-coated pup, I decided this is my breeding project and I can break whatever rules I want (i.e. my old goal to have each pup in this project have a unique coat color) and breed for a red-coated, pink-eyed pup. Especially since I had already broken that rule in the last round with my brown pup. hhmmiijj - kkoollnnThe brown pup almost threw me off course, because it was just so pretty, but three brown pups were too many. So I stuck with red. I bred this pair a lot because they kept having really lovely pups ... But, eventually I hit my goal! I named this pretty pup Hemlock. I think she's just about perfect. And here's the Genepoolz for anyone who is interested:

So ... even though I haven't posted here for a bit, I've been steadily working on my "Vanilla" line of dalis. My sixth gen pups are actually all UGChs at this point. Here's a quick 'catch-up' post for my Sixth Generation Pups. Once all of the 5th gen pups reached UGCh status, I paired them off and bred the next round of pups! The first pair I chose was Aganju and Adair. They produced Alignak ( UGCh. Witz's Lunar Lord); I'm a big fan of his heavy spot pattern and steel-colored eyes. He carries lovely eye colors & black lids. - - - - - - - The next pair was Gaia & Aranyani! They produced Bhumi ( UGCh. Witz's Night Lotus); those icy eyes with that liver coat is most excellent. Bhumi does carry brown lids in both slots, so I'll need to breed carefully moving forward (so I don't get some brown lids carried in my black or lemon pups. - - - - - - - For my third pair, I knew I wanted to keep those lovely red eyes ... so I paired Volos & Terra. They produced Cybele ( UGCh. Witz's Wild Music); a classically gorgeous dali. I really like the genepoolz here - gorgeous eye colors & black and white lids! - - - - - - - The last pair was the pair I was both most excited for and the most anxious for. Both Houtu and Geb are so lovely. How was I going to chose what to breed for? Well, when I saw Enten ( UGCh. Witz's Abundance of Earth) the decision was actually pretty easy. It helps that, again, the genepoolz are lovely.
