Hello Whiskerwickians! This is the second in an irregular series of threads where you all get to vote on (small) changes to the forum. The poll will remain open for one month (from today) and whichever option gets the most votes will be implemented! When there is a draw or the neutral vote wins, the status quo is maintained. Should the shows & contests board, Flea County Fairgrounds, be restructured? This would concern the open shows/contests & judged shows/contests. Right now, we have the following boards:
- Judge's Lounge
- Judged pose shows - Judged misc. shows & contests
- Open dog shows
- Open cat shows
- Open misc. shows & contests
With the rise of stuff like frisbee shows and agility trials, it might be time to update the boards to better match where the activity is. A new Flea County Fairgrounds might look something like this: - Judge's Lounge (rules and standards, advice, feedback, discussion, etc.)
- Judged dog pose shows - Judged cat pose shows - Judged non-pose/misc. shows - Judged/finished contests & activities
- Open dog shows
- Open cat shows
- Open non-pose/misc. shows (frisbee, tricks, agility, etc. - very open to suggestions for a better umbrella term for this category!)
- Open misc. contests & activities (for things like hexing contests, image editing contests, stamp making contests, basically anything where your entry isn't just 1-2 pics of a pet performing a specific type of action)
Would something like this proposed new structure be easier for everyone to browse/use? Or would the number of subboards get overwhelming and is the current system better? Do you perhaps have a totally different vision for what Flea County Fairgrounds could look like?
Please feel free to discuss below!

Personally I’m in favor of this! I like the specific subboards you suggested. Only 1 new subboard would be added for shows (and 2 to sort the judged shows) so I personally don’t think it would be confusing. I think splitting up the non-pose shows (frisbee, agility, cute pics, etc) and contests (stamp making, picture editing, hexing, etc.) makes a lot of sense! It makes certain show types easier to find and if you are only interested in entering, idk frisbee shows, you don’t have to sort through as many other contests then.

I am also in favor, and agree with the points Rebecca made. Personally I am usually always in favor of organization haha (tbh I find the single Show Arena on RKC confusing at times) so I think separating out the activity shows and reorganizing the judged shows is a good call!

Yes!!! Haha agree Megan, that’s why I only host shows on WW. The showing section on RKC gives me anxiety.

Yes, this sounds perfect! I, too, am a big fan of organisation and this change seems logical, especially given the boom of 'activity/other' shows alongside pose shows lately. I really like hosting shows here exactly because it's never cluttered and always easy to see what needs entering/judging etc. This can only help.

I like this and think it will help! :)
And for suggestions instead of the name misc shows- I think some people are calling them "activity shows" and I like to call them "sports shows" (like dog sports, I think that's a rl term? unsure)

I think this is a fantastic idea, Arie!! And like Rho and Xoops, I love how organized WW's show section is!

i like this since a lot of the misc shows like trick shows can be open to both catz and dogz in the same show !

Oh, definitely! I'm an organisation freak anyway, I love seeing things sorted into nice, neat categories :> But I'm sure this'll make it a lot easier to find the type of show you're looking for, so yes, go for it!

I think this is a great idea I would call them Petz Activity Shows since that seems to be the lingo most commonly used.
