Oh wow I just saw these! They're SO precious, I never would've thought of using a texture that way!

Your favourite AC related memory:
Ok, I knew immediately which memories I wanted to share. Please forgive me, I can be a little wordy...
My first encounter with AC was at my best friend's house, when I was 7. At this time, my mother was taking extra work, and could never pick me up from school. I'd walk with my friend from school to her place and stay there until evening, when my mom could come get me. Usually this friend and I would play video games, go outside, or do homework together. One very snowy day this friend showed me AC, and let me make a villager in her town.
I was immediately hooked. At the time, I would always finish my homework much faster than her (by a couple of hours), so I'd spend that time playing AC, just utterly in love with the game. I remember snow falling outside, having stuffed animals sitting in my lap, her mother cooking something delicious in the kitchen nearby, and me sitting on the carpeted floor staring up at their huge TV screen... I never had anything like that at home. (I had mostly books, which I loved, but never any video games or big TVs, so playing at her house was a huge treat.) It is honestly one of my favourite memories.
For the second memory:
I got a copy of the game (along with a gamecube!) from this same friend when I was about 10 years old, and it was a used copy she'd bought me, with a town already on it named Laville. Well, Laville wasn't very properly taken care of, so I spent a very long time (a couple years) making it beautiful, filling out the museum, etc. Then I eventually fell out of touch with the game, but I'd still pull it out any time I felt sad or scared or stressed - all my favourite villagers would be happy to see me again and I'd feel better.
Well, one such day I turned on the game in tears... I can't remember what had upset me. But somehow I had chosen the night of the (in-game) meteor shower, near the lake. I didn't realize until I had reached the lake and the music begun to change, to something soft and twinkly and beautiful. I spent the rest of the evening mesmerized by that music and the softly passing shooting stars, and I think I fell asleep watching it. In the morning, it had been turned off by one of my parents, and the whole thing felt like a hazy dream.
A couple of months later, I suddenly remembered this meteor shower event, and I knew I had to see it again. But I could no longer remember the date, and a coupe of random guesses didn't get me anywhere. Eventually I grabbed some paper, wrote out every day of the month (I knew it was in August), and I sat there continuously restarting the game, changing the date and time, and checking to see if I had gotten it right. I think it took me a whole afternoon to find it again, and when I did, it felt like stumbling across a fairy ring in a forest. I sat there listening to it, this time armed with a good book to pass the hours, with that warm feeling of witnessing something magical meant just for you.
Actually, I've yet again forgotten the date...
Hah, sorry for the cheesy stories, but I'm sentimental like that. Animal Crossing really sparked my rather sensitive imagination, and I loved thinking that it was my own little fantasy world. Nowadays I mostly play New Leaf, and a lot of the quirks I loved about the Gamecube version are gone (NL characters are never as mean as they used to be, the GC villagers would be so rude)! But the same warm feelings haven't left.
Thanks for giving me a chance to relive these memories!! :)
