Sounds like malware! This page describes a few simple steps to get rid of malware on an iPhone. It's for Safari, but Chrome probably has similar settings you can use. I hope the above fixes the issue for you! If not, maybe try some more things to see if you can pinpoint what's happening more precisely? E.g. try browsing in desktop mode or in a different browser.
